BURUNDI PALACE         Boutique Hotel

Originally called "Grand Hotel" Usumbura, Burundi Palace Hotel was built in 1946 in what is now the heart of Bujumbura, its Bauhaus architectural style was very common in these years in East Africa.

The building had many different lives until today. In 1992 the most famous burundian movie “Gito l’Ingrat” was produced mainly within the Burundi Palace Hotel.

After being turned into offices called Burundi Palace Office it was finally decided to restore it back into a hotel in 2019.


IN DETAILS

Important works started in 2019, the inside has been completely restructured and reopened in July 2023 under its new name "Burundi Palace Boutique Hotel"

The rooms are distributed on 2 floors having a total of 16 rooms and 2 junior suites.

The BP's is the Rooftop Bar and Restaurant.

A new café will also be rebuilt on the ground floor to give it back the original layout.

The famous club “Get Up” in the basement will also get a revival in 2024 with a new name

Olivier Baermann

Managing Director, Executive Chef

Olivier Baermann “BOSS”, who benefits from extensive experience in the field of high-end hotels, was born into a family deeply rooted in the world of gastronomy. Her father, a renowned chef at a five-star hotel in Lausanne, Switzerland, had a significant influence throughout her life. Olivier has always strived to achieve excellence in all aspects of his work, whether in the kitchen or in customer service.

 

Olivier subsequently co-managed his family's Michelin-starred restaurant, La Grappe d'Or in Lausanne as well as the second restaurant La Petite Grappe, a journey which sharpened his skills and made him a simple and approachable professional. His approach to hospitality, like that of his father, is based on reality and humility.

 

Recently, Olivier embarked on a new adventure: opening, operating and giving soul to the beautifully renovated Burundi Palace Boutique Hotel in Bujumbura, Burundi.

A child teacher by training, Urcille has the ambition to one day run her own business. However, her current passion is ensuring the comfort and well-being of our hotel guests. Urcille describes herself as a perfectionist in this area.

She poses a charming challenge to all our customers: spot an ill-fitting sheet, a stray piece of dust or an object that is out of place. The first to report such a discovery to the manager will be invited by Urcille to a dinner, on her account.

With a degree in environmental sciences and three years of valuable housekeeping experience, Evelyne is the rising star of our housekeeping team.

Sensitive to the needs of our clients, particularly those affected by allergic reactions to dust, she demonstrates meticulous attention to every room.

Her commitment to the well-being of our clients is a testament to her dedication and passion for her profession.
